At Broadwind we THINK BIG! We have an amazing career opportunity to join our team as a Supply Chain Lead at our heavy fabrication plant in Abilene, TX. This working lead position plays a significant role in the continued development and management of our supply chain and procurement processes, while working with all functional areas of the organization. The Supply Chain Lead is critical to the process of meeting customer deadlines and must navigate the challenges to avoid production stoppages due to supplies/parts not being available.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include some or all of the following responsibilities)
- Manage Broadwind’s relationship with key suppliers, serving as the communication channel between manufacturing and suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery to include:
o Manage weekly, detailed vendor follow-ups ensuring needed supplies are on site timely
o Develop and manage supplier scorecards; communicate information with key stakeholders
o Work with suppliers on weekly broadcast of inventory levels, consumption levels, supplier production, and in-transit inventory to support production requirements
o Anticipate needs and respond to concerns and conflicts; serve as an escalation point for issues or opportunities; meet with suppliers to assist in problem resolution
o Collaborate with customers and vendors on directed buys to improve vendor performance
- Negotiate supplier agreements and drive cost reduction where applicable
- Support Broadwind quotations through managing supplier bids. Provide analysis after project is completed to understand any variances
- Develop trending reports for market intelligence and identify strategic sourcing opportunities
- Identify and execute projects for supply chain improvement
- Provide successful guidance and leadership to direct reports or those involved in aspects of the supply chain activities
- Perform additional requests as required
Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in supply chain/logistics/purchasing or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree in business or related field is desired.
- 5 years in a supply chain role
- Additional 3 years of experience in supply chain management
- Experience with manufacturing in heavy industrial, welding or heavy fabrications
- In depth experience with ERP systems.
- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CTL (Certification in Transportation and Logistics) and/or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) desired
- Lean/Six Sigma certifications are desired.
- Must possess valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability:
- Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory management
- Demonstrated ability to drive results, monitor activities, analyze data, identify problems and develop solutions
- Strategically oriented yet tactically focused with solid analytical skills
- Must be able to work effectively with all levels of management including VPs, Directors, Managers and individual contributors.
- Can effectively challenge, probe and question in difficult areas without alienating
- Effective negotiating skills
- Able to travel to supplier locations as needed to resolve concerns
- Demonstrate a willingness to accept responsibility and accountability
- Sense of urgency and an understanding of when to step in to promptly manage a challenging situation
- Multi-tasker and able to work in an environment with constantly changing demands needing to reprioritize goals
- Proficiency in MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel knowledge & skills (preferred)
- Effective decision and problem solving
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good knowledge of detailed planning
