Parent to Parent Coordinators at BAMSI provide support, information, education and advocacy to parents/caregivers with children with serious mental, emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Empower families with information and support to assist them in navigating the mental health and educational systems. Facilitate monthly support and educational topic groups. Work with the PIN team in planning and hosting family events and outings.
The Parent Information Network (PIN) is a parent information, support, and advocacy program designed by parents and professionals to help families who have children with serious emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health challenges.
Must have lived experience parenting a child with mental health, emotional and/or behavioral difficulties and have a high school diploma or GED. Must have a valid driver's license in state of residence.

As a condition of employment, successful applicants will be required to have received COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption as of their start date. Details relating to demonstrating compliance with this requirement will be provided to applicants selected for employment. Applicants who receive an offer of employment who can provide documentation that the vaccine is medically contraindicated or who object to vaccination due to a sincerely held religious belief may make a request for exemption.
Responsibilities:
1. Respond to all referrals within 48 hours.
2. Assist parents/caregivers with the following: Locating resources and available services. Attending care plan, court and other meetings when time allows. Completing and filing of service applications or other paperwork, as needed.
3. Facilitate monthly support group meetings following the PIN group guidelines.
4. Attend school meetings to provide support.
5. Collaborate with agencies, schools, and the community to advocate for the needs of families with children who have mental health needs.
6. Actively promote and participate in PINs special events.
7. Perform all duties in a professional manner.
8. Work in the PIN office one day a week and the local DMH office twice a month. The remaining hours providing outreach in the community.
9. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required by BAMSI and local parent advocacy groups.
10. Provide information about your work through completion of weekly and monthly reports.
11. Perform duties in accordance with agency/program policies and procedures.
12. Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards. Universal/standard precautions must be utilized and training obtained in areas that constitute risk.
13. Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor or designee.
• Experience parenting a child with mental health, emotional and/or behavioral difficulties
• General knowledge of parents’ and children’s rights in the community, schools, hospitals
• High School Diploma or equivalency required
• Knowledge of available systems of support in Southeastern Massachusetts
• Ability to support and educate parents who ask for PIN services
• Willing to collaborate with other Parent Coordinators and community workers
• Flexibility and a commitment to assisting parents Must be flexible, some evening hours required
