Job Posting for Department Head for Special Education at Brockton Public Schools
Minimum Qualifications: 1.Masters degree from an accredited institution with a broad background in special education, early childhood, alternative education, related therapeutic services2.Appropriate teaching and administrative certification from the MA DESE3.Five or more years successful teaching and/or administrative experience. Responsibilities: 1.Work with Principals to supervise and evaluate special education staff.2.Supervise the implementation of services within the mandated continuum of special education programs.3.Facilitate the inclusion of special needs students in appropriate programs.4.Monitor the delivery of special education services.5.Participate in the recruitment and interview process for special education candidates.6.Assist in the compilation of statistical data required by the DESE.7.Conduct monthly staff meetings.8.Maintain up-to-date descriptions for all special education school based programs.9.Develop and supervise a smooth transition for special needs students from program to program.10.Conduct and coordinate professional development programs.11.Assist in the development of department and building based special education budgets.12.Represent the Special Education Department at various meetings and conferences.13.Perform other related assignments as may be delegated by the Director of Special Education.COMPENSATION: 1.25 ratio for the school year plus two weeks (10 days) A resume of the applicants education and professional background should accompany the letter of application. A copy of both teaching and administrative certifications should also be submitted.
