BronxWorks is hiring 1 Case Manager for the MISTI Program
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education or related field required
- A minimum of (1) year experience working with youth or social services setting or DYCD program based setting.
- Experience with and knowledge of best practices in youth and adolescent development
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing direct service and support to middle school students and their families engaged in the Middle school to High school application process
- Assist students with navigating and completing high school applications including the specialized high school and charter school process
- Organize High school readiness workshops, high school tours and fairs and quarterly engagement initiatives for program participants
- Develop and maintain relationships with middle school, high school and community providers
- Develop engaging programmatic activities geared towards age appropriate social emotional development as it pertains to High school process
- Monitor and Document participants to ensure milestone/goal attainment (middle school to high school matriculation and retention)
- Effectively collaborate with college access providers to engage middle school students and families in early college access
- Assess and coordinate academic and social referrals to internal and external providers
- Create program materials such as newsletters and resources guides to distribute to families
- Complete program reports on a monthly basis, or more frequently as required
- Attend trainings, both internal and external, promoting middle school to high school success, youth development and other professional development opportunities.
- Report to and meet with supervisor on a monthly basis or as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Program Specific Responsibilities:
- Support recruitment, engagement and implementation of summer enrichment programming
- Demonstrate ability to successfully work in fast paced and performance driven environment
- Demonstrate ability to be proactive in identifying resources and addressing barriers for participants
- Demonstrate ability to remain abreast of developing trends and changes to the New York City High school admissions process
- Network with community organizations and high schools to present program services
Skills/Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good Writing skills
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required and to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and or documents
- Ability to travel in adjacent borough of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and or field work.
