Description:
This position reports to the Director – Software Engineering, the role of Lead Data Engineer will manage and optimize data architecture, ensuring data quality. They will partner with business stakeholders to understand the company's strategic goals and analytic needs and develop processes for effective data utilization within the organization.
- Work closely with business teams, acting as partner to help them gain desired outcomes from data analytics
- Design, implement, and maintain data architecture using Microsoft technologies and best practices
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across various data sources
- Develop efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, leveraging Azure services and Microsoft Fabric
- Utilize AI-powered insights to enhance data workflow
- Oversee and coordinate the work of on and offshore engineers and developers, ensuring project goals are met effectively
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, explore new tools, and implement best practices for data engineering
- Drive project teams to be as effective and efficient as possible, push for achievable but still aggressive timelines
- Create and update project plans and documentation, and hold team members accountable for timeline and functionality commitments
- Regularly send professional and detailed project updates to project stakeholders
- Schedule and lead project update meetings with stakeholders and project team members
- Foster a culture of teamwork, partnership, and shared accountability
- Keep project meetings and discussions on-topic and on-track to ensure they are efficient
Skills
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Azure services such as Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse Analytics
- Proven experience in data engineering including planning and implementing ETL processes and data architecture
- Strong planning and documentation skills
- High attention to detail, problem solving, and critical thinking capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
· Comfortable leading and working as a member of cross-functional teams
- Ability to act as a bridge between technical team members and business stakeholders
- Driver of continuous improvement
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects/items simultaneously
- Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time
- 5 years of full-time experience in Data Engineering, including ETL process and data architecture management
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- Azure Data Engineer Associate is a plus
- MCSE: Data Management and Analytics is a plus
