The Safety Officer is responsible for the implementation of all policies regarding the security and safety of Brookgreen Gardens, its collections, support facilities, and guests. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a high-quality experience for our visitors while safeguarding our assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patrols and assigned duties within public areas of Brookgreen Gardens.
- Provide assistance and accurate information to guests.
- Monitor and operate remote security systems, including CCTV, to protect property from vandalism, fire, or natural disasters.
- Maintain knowledge of schedules, events, and facilities to assist with event logistics and provide accurate information to guests.
- Identify and address safety hazards within the public areas.
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain fire extinguishers, emergency exit lights, and safety trip hazards.
- Execute disaster preparedness plans for the protection of Brookgreen Gardens' collections and facilities.
- Respond to calls for service, administer first aid when necessary.
- Transport company funds within the property and to local financial institutions as required.
- Work all shifts and special events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of electronic security and communication systems or aptitude to learn.

- Commitment to excellence in work performance and relationships with co-workers.
- Enthusiasm to interact hospitably and courteously with guests.
- CPR and first aid certification.
- Valid South Carolina driver's license.
- Pass a background investigation and drug screening.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to lift at least 60 pounds.
