Job Description:
This position, initially funded for one year, will serve as the Alumni Success Officer working with recent grads through their transition from students to alumni. This position will identify and oversee a portfolio of recent graduates, to support their post-graduation career journey, help integrate them into the alumni network, and provide resources and information that alumni will find welcome and useful. This work will allow these alumni to feel supported and connected to Brown, appreciated for their recent accomplishments at Brown, and recognized for their individual needs and goals. In turn, Brown will earn long-term loyalty and engagement from these alumni, which may materialize later in the form of alumni community engagement and philanthropy.
By working with Advancement Information Services and Alumni Relations staff, this position will research and develop a portfolio pool of recent alumni to support. The ASO will establish and maintain contact with these alumni to learn what specific or general needs the alumni have, to suggest solutions and connections of value to these alumni and to follow up at set intervals for updates (e.g., 3, 6, 9, and 12 months).
This person must work independently as well as collaboratively while achieving defined goals. They must learn about all the engagement opportunities for recent grads and they will guide alumni to relevant resources and support, and will actively promote the use of the alumni network via BrownConnect and other networking and productivity tools. They will initiate referrals and introductions for alumni as appropriate to build and strengthen the alumni network.
This position will collect data via formal and informal surveys, about satisfaction and engagement. They will collect other data and information about network outcomes, and ensure that it is included within Division’s database for the purpose of analysis and reporting as needed.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required, recent Brown University degree preferred.
Job Competencies
One – three years’ work experience, preferably in higher education or with a customer service related focus Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
Enjoy communicating, through many channels, with recent graduates with an ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals
Strong organizational, planning, problem solving and time management skills Great verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team atmosphere
Ability to work collaboratively with other staff to gain insight to programs and services that best fit selected portfolio of graduates
Working knowledge of the Windows environment, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
Candidate must demonstrate a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
Incumbent must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends, as well as travel as needed. Often work is required during Memorial Day Weekend.
