About the Accounting Specialist Role
This position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities of our clients including general oversight of their accounting system and financial reporting. This could be a hybrid position requiring limited work in the Albany, NY office as well as some flexibility to work remotely.
In this role, you will:
· Be responsible for the overall day-to-day management of financial reporting accuracy and on-time processing of client information on both the accrual and cash basis of accounting
· Bank and other balance sheet account reconciliations
· Payroll reconciliations
· Review and approval of account classifications
· Review of G/L for any missing transactions and overall accuracy
· Reconcile subsidiary account to controls.
· Preparation of initial/draft Management Reporting Package each month
· Help clients with various related issues they are confronted with.
· Processing of vendor bills and credit card transactions
· W-9 administration
· Monthly draft 1099 vendor report preparation
To be successful in this role, you will bring with you:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred or Associates Degree with requisite experience.
· Knowledge of and proficiency with Word, Excel, QuickBooks, and/or other related accounting and tax software.
· Intuitiveness/passion for software and technology. Previous experience working with Sage Intacct, bill.com, and Blackline preferred.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
· Positive communication skills as contact with clients and others will be extensive and ongoing.
· Ability to handle multiple assignments
· Client-centric approach to all maters
· Commitment to protecting client privacy
· An understanding of accrual basis accounting
· Basic payroll, 1099-misc knowledge & Sales Tax filings
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to make complex ideas understandable and craft requirements that are easy for multiple audiences to consume.
· Excellent problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to create structure and manage ambiguity.
· Strong blend of skills including accounting, analytical and client relationship development.
· Ability to manage multiple moving parts at a time and remain highly detail oriented.
· Comfortable operating in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
