About the Role
As a Missions Coordinator you will plan, coordinate and lead outcome-based mission and volunteer experiences that support Buckner strategic goals in the United States and internationally. Mobilize and equip churches and groups to implement an outcomes-based mission strategy

What You'll Do
As a member of our team you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:

  • Develop, organize, coordinate and implement mission and volunteer experiences and projects in the U.S., Latin America and Africa.
  • Serve as liaison between mission/volunteer groups and program staff ensure that project objectives align with the outcomes-based strategy
  • Mobilize churches and equip teams to implement an outcomes-based mission's strategy.
  • Create project/ mission travel budgets
  • Operate volunteer management system and volunteer screening process.
  • Deploy project management (PM) techniques and operate the PM system to track the phases of a mission experience - planning, during and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with Church Engagement and Development teams to cultivate relationships with church or groups contacts, donors, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with appropriate staff to ensure that all field projects align to Buckner's strategic goals.
  • Equip leaders (adults and youth) to assist with mission experiences. Assist church/group leaders in organizing and leading team meetings, gathering supplies, packing supplies, planning mission projects, and assigning job roles to team members.
  • Travel as needed to lead mission experiences to international and domestic locations (typically 3-5 trips annually. Varies year-to-year).
  • Train, monitor, and evaluate volunteer leaders.
  • Effectively cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, churches, schools, and other agencies, outside service providers, consultants, agencies and organizations to develop relationships to enhance the delivery of services to clients.
  • Liaison to community; speaks in public on behalf of Buckner.
  • Responsible for supporting and representing Buckner at special events, activities and other assigned functions.
  • Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures and requirements. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements. Maintain compliance with all laws and regulatory requirements of the country where work is being performed on behalf of Buckner.
  • Work successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training as required. Facilitate meetings and training as required.
  • Provide personal transportation to travel as needed for meetings, events, and other appointments as needed.
  • Work a flexible schedule including evening and weekends as needed.
  • Perform general office tasks as required.
  • Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.

What You'll Bring to the Team
To be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following:

  • Requires in-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge. High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) plus a minimum of 3 years prior related work experience required. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, International Development, International Relations, Public Affairs, Community Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Requires experience in diverse and international settings; prior related international mission trip experience preferred. Latin American experience preferred.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of social development and social change theory and practice.
  • Requires abilities to conduct program development & outcomes measurement.
  • Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Ability to speak, read and write Spanish preferred.
  • Requires ability to provide strategic and logistical planning and facilitate meetings. Requires ability to organize complex tasks and plans and to be detail oriented.
  • Requires ability to lead others, foster teamwork, relate well to others and meet people with ease.
  • Requires ability to speak clearly and make self understood effectively in face to face interactions; articulate with accuracy to speak on the phone; ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing and speak in front of groups.
  • Requires ability to hear and receive verbal instructions, answer phones, communicate with people in situations with some background noise.
  • Requires ability to work under pressure and remain flexible as priorities change. Requires ability to work under minimal supervision; must be self-motivated and able to motivate others; ability to exercise excellent professional judgment.
  • Requires ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings to include but not limited to clergy, laity, institutional staff/faculty, various organizations, churches of all sizes, cultural identities, board and council members.
  • Requires ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Requires excellence in customer service while representing Buckner both internally and externally. They must be able to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with both constituents and a variety of individuals, groups, and public.
  • Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications required.
  • Requires commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
  • Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner's insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
  • Requires ability to lease vehicles internationally with the proper documentation.
  • Requires ability to travel to various geographic locations and some overnight stays. Requires airline and vehicle travel to various domestic and international locations regularly. Requires train and bus travel occasionally. Requires ability to secure and maintain current documentation necessary to travel internationally, including, but not limited to, a passport. Requires the ability to work nights and weekends to fulfill business needs.
  • Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Requires ability to grasp, push, pull, carry, or otherwise manipulate objects.
  • Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires sufficient good health to properly discharge duties. Employees shall not be permitted to work who have infectious disease or skin lesion for the duration of the communicability. Requires ability to obtain vaccinations as necessary for international travel.
