What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Art Instructor position at Buffalo Grove Park District?
Job Summary:
The Youth Art Instructor is responsible for the instruction and development of curriculum for art classes of multiple genres. This includes but is not limited to assisting with planning curriculum, supply management, and assisting with special events. This is a part-time position that will average 2-10 hours per week. The salary for this position is $25 - $35 per hour.
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for instructing students with enthusiasm, creativity, and sensitivity to student learning styles and abilities.
2. Work with Recreation Supervisor to create and monitor art program curriculum.
3. Assist with supply inventory and ordering.
4. Assist with registration, transfers, and refunds.
5. Plan and implement a variety of art workshops and events.
6. Prepare for classes by planning curriculum for each session including choosing materials, creating lesson plans, and preparing sample projects as necessary.
7. Responsible for sanitizing, clean-up and set-up of the art studios.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Three years’ experience teaching children with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds.
3. Background in specialized art techniques preferred.
