We are looking to add a Regional Safety Manager to our Team! Travel required in support of site locations in Florida, Alabama & Georgia.
This position serves as a subject matter expert to provide workplace safety guidance and consultation to Regional operations management and employees. Leads the Regional Operation’s ability to manage sound safety, health and compliance program practices that are designed to prevent, reduce and or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and related losses and financial liabilities that are consistent with Company-wide safety programs and practices.

Leads the Regional Operation’s ability to manage sound safety, health and compliance program practices that are designed to prevent, reduce and or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and related losses and financial liabilities that are consistent with Company-wide safety programs and practices.
Responsibilities
- Provides frequent on-site consultation and direction to regional personnel including SVP, AVP and GM leaders concerning workplace safety, regulations and means of compliance.
- Provides consultation and direction to the Regional operations related to DOT regulations and transportation safety that impact operations and means of compliance with those regulations and safe practices.
- Provides environmental compliance consultation and awareness training with all levels of management.
- Consults with claim adjusters, insurance broker personnel, insurers or others as a safety resource, but not as a claim handler.
- Leads accident investigation activities for major events in the Region as directed by supervisor.
- Provides technical leadership to Regional operations regarding OSHA, EPA, DOT or other environmental, health or safety enforcement activities at work sites and leads activity to resolve citations.
- Facilitates activities of inside or outside counsel regarding resolution of enforcement activities of regulators throughout the Region.
- Oversees environmental compliance and remediation activities with Real Estate, Legal, Operations or other departments and with local management to assure that such compliance or remediation activities are carried out timely and completely including regular testing, monitoring and evaluation, including monitoring required by environmental permits and exposure monitoring and evaluation within the workplace.
- Conducts formal safety compliance audits including formal management reports and guidance related to any audit findings.
- Actively participates in the continual safety improvement process throughout the Region assuring that such programs are continually updated, consistent with relevant regulations and are useful and applicable to Company operations, policies and processes.
- Conducts regular analysis of statistical information and prepares relevant reports to Regional operations management to describe actual experience and/or opportunities for improvement.
- Provides a positive leadership example by demonstrating safe behaviors and encouraging similar behaviors in others.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Safety and Health, Insurance or related field.
- Ideally 5-8 years of related experience in safety, worker’s compensation and/or insurance and or combined experience and education.
- A valid driver’s license is also required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
- Ability to provide specific subject matter expertise across the enterprise when requested.
- Proven ability to influence others in a positive manner.
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to deliver results in a dynamic, change intensive and fast paced work environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite and familiarity with Risk Management Information System software and use.
- Knowledge of Federal, state and local regulations and OSHA standards as well as risk administration.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Progressive levels of responsibility and experience managing property and casualty insurance programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of workers’ compensation, automobile liability, general liability and environmental liability insurance, regulations and claim management is required.
- Experience in large multi-facility product distribution business is desirable.
- Ability to travel frequently.
