What You Will Do
- Performs engineering functions in one or more of the following specialties: electronics, electrical and/or mechanical.
- Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
- Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Responsibilities will include directing work assignments of engineering service providers and contractors to design and construct shipyard facilities in a safe manner for production use.
- Candidate will develop experience with electrical infrastructure, and low voltage power distribution.
- Candidate will develop experience with controls, ladder logic, programming and integration of robotic automation.
- Candidate will develop experience in electrical field engineering, technical support, reviewing vendor technical product data, system design and configuration management.
- Candidate will develop experience in development of one-line diagrams; transformer sizing; Motor Control Center (MCC) layout; conduit and cable sizing; and knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), arc flash analysis, coordination studies, and energy analysis.
What You Must Have
- 0 years experience with Bachelors of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Candidate must have strong communication, organizational and computer skills
- Candidate must have the ability to work independently and be a part of cross-functional teams in accomplishment of complex tasks
- Candidate must have the ability to address technical, quality and business aspects of a project
- Candidate must have the ability to complete assigned tasks on schedule and within budget
- Candidate must be willing to do field engineering work as you gain experience in the unique environment at Newport News Shipbuilding
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
- Candidate must have the ability to obtain a security clearance
- Candidate must have experience in electrical field engineering, technical support, reviewing vendor technical product data, system design and configuration management.
