About Us
For more than 50 years, Gowanda Electronics has been a leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of precision electronic components for RF, microwave, and power applications. Components include standard off-the-shelf and custom-designed inductors, chips, chokes, coils, conicals, toroids, transformers, and magnetic devices in surface mount and axial-leaded (thru-hole) configurations that are used in a wide variety of electronic applications around the world. The company offers RoHS-compliant products as well as lead-containing components for QPL military/defense and other demanding requirements. Non-magnetic inductors are also available for situations where magnetic components would compromise system performance, as in medical imaging (MRI) equipment.
About the position:
Makes or improves different types of tools to enable the production processes to be as efficient as possible. This may include jigs, fixtures, clamps, or molds to obtain a more robust consistently produced part that meets the specification of the customer. Likely to be highly skilled with machining experience, competent with design/drafting programs.
Schedule: Hours for this position are 6AM-2:30PM Monday - Friday

Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC and manual machining centers and tooling to machine quality parts for use in manufacturing electronic components.
- Make and inspect machined parts to requirements.
- Programming and posting of tool paths, tool selection, and feeds and speeds into CNC machine tools using Autodesk Inventor (or similar CAD/CAM Software)
- Programming and adjusting G-code program as required.
- Draw and model parts, prototypes, fixturing and transfer molds using Autodesk Inventor.
- Work with Design/Development Engineers during product development including assisting Engineers with understanding practical machining practices.
Experience:
- Ability to operate CNC machine tools (Vertical Machining Centers and Lathe) to manufacture steel and aluminum part in a low volume parts production and prototype/fixturing environment.
- Ability to operate manual shop equipment such as lathes and millings, band saws, and grinders.
- Programming components (2D and 3D) utilizing G-code Programming and/or Autodesk Inventor (or similar) applications.
- Ability to read and adjust G-code program as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Set up and operate CNC and manual machining centers and tooling.
- Experience with general cutting and measuring tools used in a machine shop environment.
- Willingness to multitask and operate multiple machines under minimal supervision.
- Experience with reworking existing component hardware.
- Ability to utilize standard measuring and inspection equipment for measurement of parts.
- Knowledge and experience with reading dimensioned drawings.
- Experience with part inspection and measurement methods.
- Understands proper tooling selection and proper machining techniques to use with standard materials (aluminum, tool steels, some plastics etc.).
- Working knowledge of fixture and tooling design to support the fabrication of components.
