Job Title: Social Work Supervisor II Department: Health and Human Services Hiring Range: $60,720.30 - $74,635.40 Compensation Grade: 3005 Compensation Pay Range: $60,720.30 - $94,116.46 Posted Internally and Externally Job Posting End Date: March 12, 2024 This is a Social Work Supervisor (SWS) II position for Afterhours. The SWS II for Afterhours fills in as the supervisor when the SWS III is unavailable. Otherwise, this positions completes tasks of the Afterhours Investigative Assessment Treatment Social Worker. Purpose of the position: The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision for social work staff with job functions that include In Take, At Risk case management, Foster Care Licensing, Adult Services, and back up On Call. Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one (1) year of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work or master/s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited in any field institution and four (4) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Training and Experience: English/Spanish bi-lingual speakers preferred. Essential Functions of the position: Assign, direct, and supervise activities of a group of staff who provide direct services to clients through case review, ensuring adherence to established laws, policies, procedures, and standards. Provide and/or coordinate appropriate training and development for new and existing employees, supply information, technology and reference materials necessary to perform specific jobs functions. Address complaints with regard to client satisfaction and appropriateness of services by staff or clients and make assessment and recommendations for resolution. Engage community partners and organizations within the community to assure that concerns of Buncombe County citizens are being addressed and to influence the success of program outcome Administer and assure compliance with all county, human resource and governmental policies, rules and statutes including those covered by local, state, and federal laws specific to program area. Ensure a fully staffed, competent workforce and a safe and supportive work environment for all employees. Represent the agency in advocating for services needed to serve this population. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Extensive knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and their application to specific casework and community problems; knowledge of person/family-centered philosophy and family system dynamics. Extensive knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies which govern adult/child welfare programs, including a thorough knowledge of all relevant manual materials, knowledge of after-hours on-call policy and procedures. Knowledge of the methods and principles of casework supervision, training, and administration. Knowledge of management techniques and styles. Knowledge of medical, behavioral, and socio-economic problems and their treatment. Ability to supervise, train, and direct social workers in various programs. Ability to transfer knowledge to staff in such a way that it is accepted and utilized, to provide encouragement and support to staff in day to day activities as well as crisis situations. Skill in promoting clear communication, coordination and responsiveness between staff and administration. Skill in counseling and interviewing and the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely Skill in creating resources when none are readily available.
