Position Summary:
A Laboratory Technician has the responsibility to ensure the integrity and safety of food and feed products throughout the manufacturing process utilizing various standards and established testing methods, operating procedures, and adherence to protocols and policies.
This is a night shift position.
Core Functions:
- Routine analytical testing of products produced at the plant
- Data entry for testing results using QA database
- Prepare testing solutions, equipment calibrations, and upkeep of the laboratory
- Maintain lab equipment
- Participate in plant/department safety training and activities
- Troubleshoot problems with lab equipment or testing operations
- Assist with projects as needed in the lab setting
- Update standard work in lab and equipment information as directed by supervisor
Skill/Experience Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Some college classes with Chemistry/Biology emphasis preferred
- Computer skills, including the use of Word and Excel programs
- Good decision making and teamwork skills are essential
- Ability to operate lab equipment and hand tools is required
- Ability to work independently in an accurate manner
- Good attendance and reliability are critical
- Ability to follow written procedures and instruction
- Requires good organization and communication skills plus the ability to multi-task
- Able to stand and work a 12-hour shift, days or nights
- Will be required to work alone at times
