Join our team as an Estimator, where you'll collaborate closely with our field operations to ensure accurate estimates. This role is based in Plainview, NY, with occasional travel to project sites as necessary.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:
- Solid background in Utility Pipeline and Heavy Civil work (5-8 years' experience)
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Primavera, and Microsoft Project
- Familiarity with Heavy Bid Software is advantageous, but not mandatory
- Attendance at pre-bid meetings and site visits
- Thorough review of all bid documents
- Effective communication with subcontractors
- Preparation of project summaries for senior management prior to bidding
- Generation of take-offs and material lists
- Meetings with subcontractors and customers as required
- Preparation of estimates for departmental review
- Identification of project risks and opportunities for discussion with department head
- Collaboration with operations to incorporate field experience into estimates
- Coordination with operations to transition new projects and discuss bidding strategies
- Support for field operations during the startup phase of new projects
