- Responsibilities include supervision of Stage Managers and technical support staff that may include Special Projects Stage Managers, show and event technicians, technical trainers, costuming/dresser staff or other cast members or outside vendors. Responsible for the supervision of and implementation of the daily operation of the venue or show/event including shift and show scheduling and following up on tasks and assignments for cast and crew. Responsible to mentor staff to maintain a successful team oriented production.
- Responsible for supervision of areas to include but not limited to; daily hours reporting, deviation/sign in sheets, overtime requests, theatrical and technical systems, insuring inspections and SOP are followed and sheets are signed off, theater safety, facility maintenance and cleanliness, monitoring show quality, scheduling and conducting rehearsals, daily meetings and information dissemination, employee development, employee record keeping, inventory & procurement of equipment, materials and supplies, create & implement SOPs for assigned show / area as necessary.
- Assist with developing, monitoring and maintaining labor and expense budget for entertainment technical components and technical support staff (current year and future), including proper staffing, recruitment and interviewing of department technical personnel. Responsible for developing and maintaining quality standards throughout all assigned tasks, special events and show positions·
- Input tech schedules, plan out and develop timeline for Install/Strike/Maintenance crews for shows and events as needed. Act as crew lead when necessary.
- Responsible for maintaining the artistic and technical integrity of the show. Knowledge of all technical aspects necessary for show operation.
- Act as front-line management representative. Act as a liaison with Entertainment Technical, Production and Operational Entertainment Management Staff.
- Responsible for coordination and implementation of Special Shows and Entertainment requirements in show venues or in other facilities as needed
What it takes to succeed:
- Must submit a resume to be considered for this position. High School Diploma or equivalent required; College Degree in Technical Theatre preferred or 4 years equivalent experience managing a Entertainment Technical Crew .
- Multi-faceted Experience & Knowledge in all disciplines of technical theater, including but not limited to: Lighting, Video, Special Effects, Rigging, Audio, etc. Ability to use and program equipment as well as hand tools/power tools to perform maintenance, ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Minimum 4 years practical Technical Theater and/or Events Knowledge. Minimum of 2 years required of management or supervisory experience. Technical Direction and Production/Stage Management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of scheduling, interviewing and staffing technical positions, project management and budget development preferred.
- Supervise theatrical services technical duties and responsibilities. Possess an understanding and demonstration of strong performance skills
- Ability to lift/push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds several times throughout a scheduled shift, this includes overhead lifting. Must be able to stand, sit or walk for extended periods up to more than an hour, several times per shift.
- Be able to climb 60 stairs multiple times per day or ladder up to 40ft. The ability to work at a height of 80feet is preferred.
- Be able to work in environment with atmospheric effects including but not limited to fog, smoke, haze, mist, bubble, snow and scents.
- Be able to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions including bright, dark or tight locations, wet, cold, high humidity, or extreme heat work in varying conditions of inclement weather and dark or confining environments.
- Have excellent organizational, problem solving and planning skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills successfully interacting in a positive manner with various entertainers, technicians, outside contractors, entertainment and park staff, event clients and personnel from other departments.
- Strong ability to provide and receive feedback for the betterment of the Department.
- Have flexible schedule with no set days off to include working daytime, evenings, late night, overnight, weekends and holidays. Must be available to work more than a 40 hour work week as needed.
- Be willing to be trained to operate trucks (non-CDL), forklifts & high reach’s. Valid driver license required.
- Exceptional ability to inspire and nurture a large and diverse organization of people and product. Must be team-oriented with a positive, kid-siderite attitude and display strong guest service skills.
- Hands on capability to operate basic technical equipment, trouble shoot basic technical problems, and display proficiency with MS Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
