Job Description:
As an Assembly Technician for the ADS-B Department you will be responsible for assembling, testing and shipping FlightAware hardware globally. This critical role will help build and maintain the largest network of ADS-B receivers in the world.
Perform a range of tasks in the production process. Build product assemblies and sub-assemblies. Perform set-up and testing of ADS-B equipment. Monitor and inspect output to ensure assembled products adhere to specifications and meet quality standards. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhere to safety and environmental regulations. Maintain accurate documentation and records. Package and ship finished goods.

Responsibilities:
- Assemble and test FlightFeeders, consisting of a variety of tasks for hardware assemblies, cables, and other electrical components, some of considerable complexity.
- Pick, pack and ship FlightFeeders and related hardware to locations worldwide including: Individual users, Wholesale customers, and e-Commerce platform users.
- Track packages, resolve customs issues, and ensure timely delivery.
- Interact with users via e-mail to resolve shipping issues.
- Process and track returns and exchanges.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Visually inspect and test incoming material as specified.
- Work with engineering personnel to resolve problems arising during assembly.
- AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience.
- Ability to work on your feet for 80% of your time and the capacity to lift 40 pounds.
- Must live in the greater Houston area and be able to communicate daily to our annex site, which is located near 610 & I-10 (west side of the loop) in Houston, Texas.
- English communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Proficiency with standard office productivity software (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, etc.).
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience assembling hardware; similar to building a computer.
- Ability to identify issues during operations, solve them and/or exercise sound judgement when appropriate to escalate to a manager if/when required.
- Experience with international shipping and warehouse operations in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Aviation industry knowledge, in particular Mode S/ADS-B, or other radio data communications equipment experience.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to set and maintain consistent quality standards.
