JOB PURPOSE
· The Chemist will conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses or experiments in laboratories for quality or process control or to develop new BW Fusion products or knowledge.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These are the basic duties and responsibilities of the position and must be performed competently. Basic duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
· Analyze organic or inorganic compounds to determine chemical or physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, or reactions, using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry techniques.
· Develop, improve, or customize products, equipment, formulas, processes, or analytical methods.
· Compile and analyze test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency or to diagnose malfunctions.
· Confer with scientists or engineers to conduct analyses of research projects, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard tests.
· Direct, coordinate, or advise personnel in test procedures for analyzing components or physical properties of materials.
· Induce changes in composition of substances by introducing heat, light, energy, or chemical catalysts for quantitative or qualitative analysis.
· Write technical papers or reports or prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, or tests.
· Prepare test solutions, compounds, or reagents for laboratory personnel to conduct tests.
· Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions when needed.
· Conduct quality control tests.
· Evaluate laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with standards or to make improvements as needed.
· Purchase laboratory supplies, such as chemicals, when supplies are low or near their expiration date.
· Complete training and attend meetings/workshops/seminars/continuing education appropriate to the position, as assigned and approved by direct supervisor.
· Inform direct supervisor of all relevant departmental issues in a timely manner.
· Perform all other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
· Comply with BW Fusion policies, including BW Fusion safety policies
QUALIFICATIONS
· A Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or another health and science or related field.
· A minimum of 3 years' experience as chemist preferred.
· Effective data trending, document control, and technical bench skills
· Expert knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocols.
· Must be self-motivated, adaptable, accountable, and efficient.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
