Tableau Administrator

Overview

By Light is seeking a Tableau System Administrator to support a large federal client remotely. Current Tableau Environment has 20k users. The Tableau Administrator needs to have strong written and oral communication skills. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting, and configuring servers, performing software installations, performing system maintenance on Tableau in test, development, and production environments. The ability to recommend fixes and enhancements is highly valued. They must be able to work under minimal supervision and be involved in advancement of processes and technology.

Responsibilities

• Working collaboratively with IT team to set up, manage and maintain Tableau infrastructure – commissioning, building, maintaining, backing up Tableau servers
• Staying up to date with latest upgrades and developments in Tableau
• Administering Tableau Server (configuration, access, deployment), managing user permissions and customizing Tableau Dashboards as and when required
• Develop an understanding of the current end-to-end BI platform architecture to support the deployed solution
• Work closely with internal Data Analytics team to provide technical review and development estimates based on desired metrics defined by business teams and clients
• Standardizing design and processes to create/update dashboards
• Manage and monitor the ongoing data-loads/extracts for dashboards in production
• Maintain update process logs
• Thought leadership on trial and acceptance of latest Tableau functionalities

Required Experience/Qualifications

• Ability to document fixes and create SOPs
• 2-3  years’ experience with network/system admin
• 2-3 years of Tableau Administration
• Understanding of Server Environments and dependencies (e.g. Windows Servers, Linux Servers, Gateways, etc.)
• Experience improving, configuring, and administering Tableau Knowledge of Oracle databases corresponding with Tableau (preferred, but not required)
• Experience and understanding working in a virtual environment (AWS preferred)
• Experience with Windows and Linux environments
• Systems/Network Administration: 4 years (Required)
• Shell scripting knowledge (PowerShell, bash, etc.
• Comfortable working with a command line interface
• Ability to effectively communicate with other groups, including C-Suite level, Server Admin teams, etc.
