Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team. As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This is a key leadership role that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide strategic financial guidance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting
- Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
- Develop and monitor budgets, providing insights and recommendations for cost-saving opportunities
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements
- Oversee the preparation of tax returns and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Provide financial guidance and support to other departments within the organization
Financial Management:
- Oversee all aspects of the company's accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger. (Quickbooks experience is required)
- Ensure proper processing of invoices, payments, and payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review reconciled bank statements, other general ledger accounts, and prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports for management.
- Collaborate with the CAO of a partner company to ensure compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting.
- Manage budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support informed business decisions.
HR & File management
- Assist with human resources functions, including employee onboarding, benefits administration, and payroll processing.
- Provide administrative support to managers.
Project Support:
- Assist with project management tasks such as maintaining project files in CRM, excel, tracking budgets and schedules, and generating reports.
- Update Quickbooks according to job expenses
- Facilitate communication between the field and the office.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, representing the company with courtesy and respect.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in construction accounting and office management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred
- Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in a corporate setting
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts, principles, and practices
- Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Familiarity with construction terminology and practices (a plus).
-Experience with general ledger reconciliation and account reconciliation processes
- Familiarity with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and regulatory reporting requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software systems
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly
