Summary
A Journeyman Lineman position is responsible for installing or repairing cables, wires and equipment used in overhead and underground electrical power or distribution systems. May erect poles, towers, and sub-stations.
Required Qualifications/Experiences:
- Journeyman’s License or Journeyman Lineman certification or a minimum of 3 years’ experience performing as a journeyman and being recognized as a journeyman lineman.
- Performing all essential functions of a qualified Journeyman Lineman.
- OSHA10 Safety Certification minimum. Prefer OSHA 30.
- Class A CDL License or be able to obtain within 45 days of effective hire date
- Ability to listen, follow directions and communicate effectively.
- Interact in a professional manner with customers, co-workers and other trades.
- Have an extensive knowledge of current electrical codes. NEC and NESC
- Other Safety Certifications required for specific tasks and operations.
- Attention to detail and initiative to be self-motivated and directed.

- Ability to manage time and work independently or with other team members.
- Ability to assume additional job duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.
- Must be willing to travel as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily safety briefings
- Must always maintain safe working conditions.
- Demonstrate and use Journeyman level knowledge of electrical line work to safely construct and maintain electric transmission and distribution lines.
- Be able to climb poles of all types and performs jobs required of a Journeyman lineman off the poles, including changing out of arms, transformers, conductors, etc.
- Must have general and specific knowledge of equipment and be able to operate equipment to construct, maintain and repair electrical systems, both cold and energized (hot) lines.
- Drives and operate necessary equipment to frame and set poles, lay wire, connect and disconnect services and other duties as assigned

Must be able to understand requirements and use appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Must be able to recognize, mitigate and inform/communicate hazardous conditions.

Maintain condition, functionality and always use the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Identify and conform to requirements between voltage classifications.

Troubleshoot circuits and determine what procedures need to be taken to fix or prevent electrical problems.

Direct others as needed.

Plan, layout, construct and communicate how to construct distribution underground and overhead electric lines and equipment.

Prepare sketches and/or follow drawings and prints. All “As Built” drawings red-lined and notion correct and legible.
