What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Controller position at C3EL?
C³EL is currently recruiting a Network/Transport Controller to support mission critical work at Hill AFB, UT. This position supports the Transport Desk within DISA's 24x7 Network Operations Center.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serves as technical specialist responsible for the monitoring, operating and managing, troubleshooting and restoring to service any of the components comprising the DoD Information Network (DoDIN). Including: data/voice communications equipment, multiplexers (such as modems, circuit switching units, data switching units, secure telephone switches and PBX's), data terminal equipment, (such as front-end processors, routers, 3270/SNA devices) and transmission media (such as coaxial and twisted pair cables, satellite, microwave, and fiber optics both vendor-provided and government owned).
- Performs pro-active monitoring of network elements alarms and alerts to identify those components/elements that may lead to or already are causing network degradation or failure.
- Performs fault isolation, diagnostic, and assessment functions to include determination and execution of corrective action(s) on real-time basis.
- Interfaces with functional users as well as remote operations centers in both routine and reactive monitoring situations.
- Maintains logs and records associated with reported problems or situations.
- Executes all reporting functions and data input associated with network management.
- Monitors security posture of network(s); reports suspected violations to designated authority.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of experience with the following technologies: ODXC, MSPP, Promina, OTS, and Ciena.
- A working knowledge of Remedy Global Ticket Management System.
- Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance.
- DoD 8570 IAT-II certification (Security CE, CCNA-Security, etc.)
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to multi-task and manage/prioritize workload to include monitoring multiple Network Monitoring Systems, fielding customer calls via unclassified and classified phone systems, maintain situational awareness via classified chat rooms, and utilizing Global TMS to document all steps taken to identify and resolve service affecting incidents.
- Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and network analysis to determine points of impact for outages and maintenance actions not coordinated with DISA, in addition to steps necessary to mitigate service impacting outages, degradations, or demand maintenance actions/control seizures.
- Customer service oriented and be able to communicate effectively with our mission and government partners to ensure proper assessment of operational/mission impacts and prompt response to priority circuits.
