General Laborer

Cable Wiring Specialist, Inc. provides a large suite of construction and engineering services to the Telecommunications and Fiber Optic industry. CWSI is accepting applications for General Laborers to work out of our Lakeland, Bonita Springs and Hollywood Florida Office's. The role is multifaceted and provides career growth for the right candidate. 

The role is responsible for but not limited to:

• Works as part of a crew. Performs general construction work (to include physical labor i.e. using hand tools, lifting materials on average up to 50 lbs., etc.) under direction of Foreman, Supervisor or Project/Construction Manager.
• Performs other duties related to the company's duties as assigned. Operates company trucks to transport materials and equipment to the job site.
• Performs the trenching, missile-bore, hand-hole placement, installation of fiber optic or Coax cable, restoration of area and inner duct/conduit and related restoration.
• Locates other buried wiring/cabling Install underground telecommunications cabling.
• Flagging as needed (directing safe coordination of vehicles and equipment within general public areas where work sites are active)
• Check work zone throughout the shift to be sure items are still in their proper location and all safety devices are in place.
• Rotating On-Call Schedule which is 24 hours per day while on schedule, and must be flexible to the schedule changes, and be available on Weekends and some holidays. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Prior experience with underground utility construction is a must.
• Stand for long periods of time at the site and watch for road traffic and pedestrians to protect the public, equipment and employees.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned and the ability to comprehend and execute instructions as provided. 
• Ability to move and maneuver quickly to avoid danger.
• Ability to work in varying outdoor environments all times of the year.
• Must be able to follow directions, maintain work quality, maintain safe working conditions/habits.
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain positive working relationships at all levels both internal and external to the company.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be 21 years old, or older.
• 1 year or more in Underground construction experience.
• A high school diploma (or equivalent preferred)
• The ability to comprehend prints is a plus.
• A valid Driver’s License is required to operate company vehicles (valid CDL is preferred).
• Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a background check including driving.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to successfully pass a drug screen test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Must be willing to travel throughout the state as projects require with an occasional overnight stay.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
