At CableCom , as a Coax Splicer , youll splice, test, and repair cables & wires in both indoor and outdoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing diagrams, maintain activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), and take splicing field notes.

What youll do as a Coax Splicer
Performs tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing of cable
Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation
Self-supervise all operations to ensure that all splicing operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications
Safely operate and use bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments as needed (potentially climb poles)
Complete daily production reports, mark-up maps, keep track of work hours, complete as-built maps for areas built and track daily production
Reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure accurate material usage counts
Frequently work independently
Other splicing related duties as assigned
What youll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid drivers license (class C minimum) or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position (possibly class B - light commercial)
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
- Ability to read and build from blueprints and / or wire diagrams
OSP telecommunication construction experience; cable experience
Experience in splicing, balancing, and documenting CATV systems
Physical abilities & exposures
Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low.
The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift
- Ability to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
- Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses and hardhat
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to : extreme heat and cold temperatures;
inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
- Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens
- Must be able to lift / carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance
- Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary
