What You’ll Get to Do:
Become a part of our efforts to support the Department of Transportation (DOT) with writing, editing, communications, and presentation services. You will help DOT deliver the world’s leading transportation system, serving the American people and economy through the safe, efficient, sustainable, and equitable movement of people and goods. Your work will enhance the mission(s) of the Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Federal Highway Administration among the other modes of DOT .
More About the Role:
You will be an important part of a team providing critical support to DOT with a readily available support for a wide range of recurring professional service needs around Technical Writing, Editorials, Presentations, and Communication (STEPC) Services.
Communications services will support successful execution of planned activities to include methods for department-wide outreach. You may be requested to travel to and facilitate meetings, as well as conduct focus groups and workshops designed to gather stakeholder input and inform them about potential communication strategies and outreach activities.
The primary function of this role is to gather information, target demographics, cite goals, identify content types, strategize and evaluate key word usage, readability, and word count to make the content attractive across all audiences (e.g., search engines and people). Message development is a focus area aimed to provide concise and clear messaging that is substantive and tailored to the audience. Content management meant to ensure information is relayed accurately and is clearly understood by the audience.
Responsibilities include:
- Supports writing projects and aids in ensuring communications clearly relay client key messages and adhere to identified requirements. Performs document quality assurance and quality control reviews
- Works with staff to improve writing flow and layout
- Lends support in building and sustaining successful cross-team management structure capable of effectively communicating client key messages and directing quality assurance
- Meets regularly with government program manager to discuss performance, propose initiatives, and establish priorities.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Ten (10) years of experience in communications projects/ program
- Bachelor’s degrees in technical writing, English composition, literature, communications, or a similar field
- Computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools
- Ability to communicate effectively, especially in writing
- Ability to effectively manage several tasks simultaneously

- Master's degree
