Lab Technician - Novi, MI. (100% ONSITE POSITION)
One-year contract assignment with potential extension and/or direct hire
Shift Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm (flexible)
Pay Rate - $19.00 to $30.00 depending on experience
Responsibilities of the Lab Technician:
Responsible for general support activities in a testing laboratory, including ordering of chemicals and supplies, sample receipt, small equipment maintenance and calibration (balance weight checks, spectrophotometer checks) and various administrative support duties. Will assist in in routine sweeps of the lab to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities of the Lab Technician:

Will assist in in routine sweeps of the lab to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Complete diverse metallurgical evaluations utilizing equipment of the CSC Enabling Technology labs including: shearing, machining, tensile testing, bending, metallography, and microscopy
- Coordinate CSC, Technical Development, and Technical Service testing with Metallurgical Lab Technologists and clearly communicates technical information and results
- Understands and able to clearly communicate and clarify customer requirements as needed
- Identify where additional data/analysis is needed
- Maintain and diagnose critical equipment, including calibration and maintenance schedules
- Leverage internal R&D and plant labs to establish laboratory best practices
- Support general housekeeping and organization efforts of the lab
- Utilize equipment in a safe operating manner and in compliance with corporate safety standards
- Identify key lab safety points and complete risk assessments as needed
- Train new lab personnel and engineers in lab as necessary
- Accountable for identification and correction of hazards or unsafe practices in laboratory
Requirements of the Lab Technician:
- High School Diploma, degree preferred
- Minimum two-years of previous experience working within a lab environment
- Previous lab experience, specifically working with metals such as aluminum
- Previous proven experience with tensile testing, metallography, and microscopy
