Role and Responsibilities
This position is contingent upon contract award. This position supports the Security Specialist Officer (SSO) in the administration of security processes and procedures for a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) office in Suitland, MD. The candidate selected will support a healthy security program demonstrating knowledge of applicable publications, policies, instructions, and guides. Utilizing exceptional communication, the selected candidate will provide specialized security expertise within the organization. The candidate selected will process and administer personnel security records, visit requests, billet requests, documentation, and correspondence; responsible for scanning and duplicating documentation; perform filing; maintain records and documentation to include document control and maintenance; conduct destruction of materials and maintain related records; and will draft and develop security documents and standard operating procedures. The candidate selected will also perform inventory and accounting, as well as control of all documents and records and will perform inventory and audits. In support of the SSO, the candidate-select will be responsible for proper transmitting, transporting, packaging, and safeguarding SCI.
Requirements & Qualifications
A current Top Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility, as well as the ability to successfully pass a counterintelligence polygraph examination is required. A high school diploma and two (2) years of security administrative experience is required, with an associate degree or specific security training and four (4) years’ experience preferred, working in an administrative role in a security environment. Applicants must have a working knowledge of operational security, information security, personnel security, physical security, communications security, TEMPEST, and information technology/information assurance security principals, as well as experience processing visit certifications and maintaining security holdings. Effective and clear communication both verbally and in writing, as well as attentional to detail, organization skills, clear decision-making, and a collaborative nature, are key qualities in applicants for this position. Applicants for this position must also be proficient in the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and similar computer–based productivity applications. The applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicants must complete a variety of training courses within six (6) months of hiring. Applicants are preferred who have completion certificates from the Center of Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) training courses and should submit their completion certificates with their application. The selected applicant may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. A Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 6 years is required.
