CAE is a global leader in the development and delivery of integrated live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) training solutions for defense forces. Most militaries leverage a combination of live training on actual platforms, virtual training in simulators, and constructive training using computer-generated simulations. The solutions provided by CAE's Defense and Security business unit typically include a combination of training services, simulation products and software tools designed to cost effectively maintain and enhance safety, efficiency, mission readiness and decision-making capabilities.
Position Summary
CAE D&S is at the front-end of a newly reset five-year strategic plan to profitably grow. The Director, FP&A will be responsible leading financial planning and analysis activities within the organization. This candidate will be responsible for providing executive leadership, financial models, and reporting to ensure the achievement of the business plans and objectives.
Specific Responsibilities
Develop and implement financial planning strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives, with a focus on supporting defense contracting operations.
Lead an international team which consolidates segment financials according to IFRS standards, and partners with the corporate office on complex financial matters.
process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial forecasting, reporting, and risk & opportunity management.
Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management, including analysis of contract performance, profitability, and risk assessment.
Monitor and analyze industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscapes to identify potential risks and opportunities.
Enhance the efficiency and accuracy of strategic planning, including financial/resource forecasting and budgeting.
Participate with the CFO and the executive management team in preparing financial presentations for company executives, shareholders, and financial institutions.
Act as a lead in the annual budgeting process, including revenue projections, cost analysis, resource allocation, actuals, and segment consolidations.
Create a culture of excellence and high performance; drives the finance team to excel at delivering on key commitments.
Identify company investments and resource requirements to achieve short- and long-term financial growth.
Consolidate and streamline data management and reporting across financial segments. Very comfortable with very large data sets
Oversee the preparation of financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for executive stakeholders and government agencies.
Collaborate with program managers, business development, and operations teams to ensure financial plans are integrated into contract proposals and project execution.
Identify knowledge gaps and training needs for individuals and provide leadership and mentoring accordingly.
Understand and analyze divisional financial performance as it relates to forecasted profitability.
Team Management
Manage and mentor a team of FP&A and accounting professionals, both within the US and Canada, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
Inspire and lead efforts towards greater efficiencies, synergies, and technological innovation across the Finance organization.
Identify, evaluate, and resolve complex business challenges in a collaborative manner through cross-functional business teams.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience with much of that time in financial planning and analysis.
Significant experience in rapid growth technology markets, with emphasis on the U.S. defense industry, both domestic and international. Experienced in taking a company forward in a fast growth environment, providing insight for direction and managing change effectively.
Ability to multi-task with a high degree of versatility and flexibility.
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting tools/software.
Experience with Cognos, Costpoint, Salesforce, and/or DOMO a plus.
Comprehensive understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFAR).
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving business insights and decision-making.
Ability to prioritize and produce superior results under deadline pressure.
