WE ARE RAPIDLY GROWING AND ARE SEEKING A DESIGN ENGINEER TO JOIN OUR TEAM. This position will serve all Business Units and plays a pivotal role in our success by working with internal and external customers to lead new product development projects relating to sewn and soft goods. The Product Development Associate will collaborate with a team of manufacturing and engineering professionals to bring new products to life.
RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:
Conceptualize and develop new medical or veterinary products and textiles based on direction of internal or external customers, research, or marketplace analysis.
Utilize creativity and textile knowledge to develop novel design solutions.
Work within a Product Development Process. Communicate and work across departments to complete tasks.
Estimate development costs, project timelines, and resources required to complete a project from an engineering perspective.
Draft digital pattern and part files in applicable CAD programs.
Select and source textiles and raw materials to be utilized in new product designs.
Collaborate with engineering or manufacturing departments to prototype new products using a variety of equipment, including industrial sewing and automated cutting machines.
Create Design Verification tests and evaluate prototypes.
Analyze manufacturability and consider optimal manufacturing processes.
Complete necessary documentation to transfer a new product to the manufacturing department, including tech packs, bills of materials, work instructions, inspection procedures, and assisting in production set-up and training.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Bachelors degree in related field (Biomedical, Mechanical, ect.) preferred and/or 3-5 years of design experience.
Basic textiles, manufacturing and sewing knowledge preferred.
Excellent communications skills. Highly organized, dependable and detail oriented.
Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Ability to draft 2D patterns in AutoCAD or Adobe Illustrator.
Experience with SolidWorks or related 3D modeling software.
Ability to create part and assembly specifications.
Create testing procedures and complete Engineering Test Reports.
Strong writing skills preferred.
