CAIR San Diego is looking for a passionate, talented individual to fill the Programs Coordinator position. The Programs Coordinator will work with the Executive Director and various departments to develop programming relating to civic engagement, civil rights, and community empowerment for San Diego Muslims and allies.
Overview
Title: Programs Coordinator
Reporting Relationships: Report to Programs Manager. Oversees the work of interns, law clerks, and volunteers.
Schedule Type: Full-Time (Non-exempt). 40 hours each week. Frequent evenings and weekends are required for programming.
Location: Based in CAIR's San Diego office. CAIR staff are currently working a hybrid schedule, with three days in-person and two days remote, and anticipate returning to fully in-person when it is safe to do so. Requires travel throughout the San Diego Area
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinating CAIR's flagship programs, including Muslim Day at the Capitol, Muslim Gamechangers Network, and the Muslim Youth Leadership Program
- Recruiting, managing, and engaging interns and volunteers
- Delivering CAIR-San Diego public educations programs, interactive workshops, training sessions, and forums
- Supporting the planning and coordination of the annual fundraising banquet under the direction of the Programs Manager
- Coordinating marketing and outreach efforts for CAIR-San Diego programming
- Working with Islamic centers, MSAs, and other faith communities and communities of color on a variety of social justice programs
- Representing CAIR-SD at relevant organizations' (college campuses, nonprofits, mosques, etc.) events, activities, and meetings
All CAIR staff assist in general duties such as answering phones, weekly outreach, fundraising, and other office tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or at minimum two years of equivalent experience
- Highly motivated, self-initiating, and energetic
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with the American Muslim community
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects with limited time
- Excellent oral and written communication to interface with community leaders, volunteers, donors, and colleagues in a professional and effective manner
- Experience with and proficiency in public speaking before diverse audiences
- Access to a working vehicle and the ability to drive throughout Southern California for events and outreach in an on-demand capacity
- A strong commitment to civil rights and CAIR's mission
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Adobe Acrobat, Asana, Canva, Constant Contact, and WordPress
- Experience working with non-profit organizations
- Conversational proficiency in Arabic, Farsi, or Urdu
Compensation
- Compensation in the range of $22-26/hourly, commensurate with experience
- Fully paid Kaiser Health Insurance and Blue Cross PPO Dental Plan for employees and dependents
- 3% retirement matching contribution
- Ten paid holidays, ten sick days, and 12 vacation days
- Mileage reimbursed per I.R.S. standards
