Calandro's Supermarket is currently seeking a candidate with an interest and passion for customer service and accounting to work as a Front End Office Manager at one of our two Calandro's locations.

We're looking for someone, first off, who's interested in *customer satisfaction above all else* (a Calandro's hallmark) and who is excellent at dealing with customers, leading and developing their team members, and working with other managers and staff throughout the store, while being a responsible, caring, meticulous, diligent, and dedicated grocery/retail, front-end, office & customer service manager who genuinely and completely embodies what Calandro's Supermarket is known for. This Office Manager position would report directly to the Assistant Store Managers, will share, with the other Office Managers, responsibility for the Front End Department.

** Open work schedule availability from 6:30am-8:30pm Monday thru Saturday and 7:30am-8:30pm Sundays (including holidays) is required for this full time position. **

Office Manager Job Responsibilities and Requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • demonstrating and ensuring top quality customer service in all aspects of the front end - including customer service management, cashiering, bagging, customer interaction, and customer problem-solving,
  • ensuring front-end associates are providing exceptional customer service,
  • effectively handling customer complaints when necessary,
  • maintaining front-end conditions and cleanliness per company standards,
  • establishing and maintaining a working relationship with all support staff and dept. managers,
  • developing and maintaining a team concept and positive interactions amongst all front end associates to improve morale, communications, teamwork, and working conditions,
  • properly elevating and communicating front end and store issues, needs, news, events, successes, etc. to store management and store owners,
  • planning, assigning, and directing work of front end store associates,
  • appraising performance of front end associates and managers,
  • managing much of the day-to-day operational bookkeeping, accounting, finances of the store,
  • keeping the front end compliant with with company and governmental cleanliness and sanitation standards,
  • ensuring front end associates are properly trained for their roles as baggers, cashiers, etc.,
  • opening the store to customers, ensuring that before the store is opened, all store departments, areas, staff, equipment, and facilities are fully ready for customers,
  • closing the store, ensuring that before the doors are locked for the night, all closing tasks are completed for the next day,
  • managing the Front End Department, including all cashiers, baggers, and front office staff and equipment,
  • running a register, bagging, buggy collection, and performing all other lower-level Front End jobs necessary when Front End staff needs additional help,
  • making weekly schedules for Front End staff,
  • keeping up with and working off of a documented Office Manager schedule.

Candidate Requirements (musts) include , but are not limited to:

  • Possessing an High School Diploma or GED AND one to two years related experience and/or training OR an equivalent combination of education and experience,
  • being at least 21 years of age or older (to meet OSHA requirements and to acquire necessary licenses and permits to sell alcohol),
  • possessing key mathematical skills (for accounting, running a register, managing cash, etc.) which include calculation of figures and amounts (such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc.) and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry,
  • possessing excellent organizational and time management skills,
  • possessing key language skills including the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.
  • willingness to transfer and/or work at different Calandro's locations as needed,
  • ability to work, standing and/or walking, for extended periods of time,
  • ability to bend and lift loads up to 35 pounds, and push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds,
  • possessing knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, email, and internet tools,
  • possessing excellent customer-relations, teamwork, and communication skills,
  • being a proactive, self-motivated, reliable, punctual individual, and
  • availability for flexible scheduling, 40 or more hours per week for Full Time, or 25-28 hours per week for Part Time, to meet the needs of the store, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and long and/or unusual hours,

Optional (but Desired) Skills and Experience include , but are not limited to:

  • possessing a college associates or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, and/or business management,
  • prior grocery-store office, front end or customer service management experience managing medium groups of associates,
  • prior retail office, front end or customer service management experience managing medium groups of associates,
  • prior accounting and/or financial experience,
  • prior customer service experience,
  • prior experience in employee scheduling, multi-tasking and time-management,
  • prior experience in customer-relations positions,
  • interest, ability, and/or prior experience in working in fast-paced job environments requiring speed, accuracy, and performance under pressure, both individually and as a leader of a medium team, while maintaining a high level of customer service, safety, efficiency, and quality of work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
