Position Overview

 Reporting to the Senior Procurement   Manager, the Senior Buyer’s primary responsibilities include the direct   purchase and inventory management of packaging and ingredients which support   production operations. Additional   responsibilities include vendor management and developing strategies to   achieve quality, cost, and product delivery to ensure material cost   reductions, as well as recommending market risk management strategies to   management.

Job Responsibilities

· Completes and implements commitments to external suppliers in a manner that meets production deliverables linked to the procurement process including timely delivery, inventory control and regular cycle counting.

· Assess material and or parts costs, lead time and supply alternatives to ensure increased efficiency and cost reduction.

· Support an annual cost and inventory reduction program, measure progress and communicate results to key stakeholders.

· Execute against a supplier performance scorecard to assess supplier performance and communicate results to key stakeholders.

· Review requisitions, purchase orders and contracts to ensure accuracy and payment submitted in a timetable which meets company guidelines. Follow up on expected deliveries to ensure suppliers are delivering product on time and in expected quantities.

· Responsible for assisting in stocking strategies and item master creation.

· Responsible for acquiring supplies, materials, and or parts – to ensure their timely delivery for the production schedules to be met.

· Ensure purchased materials meet operational and quality requirements.

· Ensure inventory quantities recorded in company’s ERP system are accurate and complete.

· Ensure that required competencies to carry out these job functions affecting product legality, safety and quality are met in accordance with the Quality Policy and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard.

· Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable regulatory requirements while following the company’s Good Manufacturing Processes.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

· High School diploma or equivalent

· 3-5 years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics ideally in a manufacturing or food industry environment

· Proficiency using Microsoft Office Tools including Excel and Power Point

· 3 years of ERP/MRP system experience required.

· Demonstrated proficiency in ingredient and/or packaging procurement.

· Project Management skills with the ability to develop strategic plans, coordinate projects and communicate changes and progress.

· Ability to problem solve and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization and data exists.

· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.

· Demonstrated sense of urgency, flexibility, and ability to multi-task.

Demonstrated negotiation, analytical and organizational skills 

Preferred Qualification

• MBA ideally with a Procurement or Supply Chain focus
• Certification in Inventory Management or Purchasing (CPIM, CSCP or CFPIM)
• Prior risk management experience

Equipment Operated: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-130 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibration, moving machinery/electrical parts, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, allergens including soy, milk and milk by-products and fumes from food processing equipment. Position may require travel up to 5% of the time.
