Under the direction of the Prison Industries Superintendent II (Optical Products), this position is responsible for assigning, supervising and coordinating the work of a group of inmates engaged in the process of manufacturing eyewear in an Optical enterprise at a correctional institution, and enforcing rules, regulations and requirements. Train inmate workers in proper and safe use of optical equipment. Maintain inmate time cards and prepare inmate performance evaluations; maintain order and supervise the conduct of inmates; prevent escapes and injury; maintain the security of the work area and materials and tools; analyze situations in accurately and take effective/necessary action; prepare reports, maintain discipline of inmate workers utilizing CDCR disciplinary processes.

Desirable Qualifications
Incumbent must have experience in an industrial optical enterprise with supervision experience; must possess the ability to work with persons confined in a correctional setting. Have the ability to exercise initiative, good leadership and organizational skills; good attendance and punctually. Ability to supervise and instruct inmates in optical techniques and safety practices; maintain firm, impartial and consistent discipline; maintain sufficient strength, agility and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental and emotional) situations encountered on the job without compromising their health and welling being of their fellow employees or that of inmates, ensure that all safety and security regulations are enforced for the protection of staff, inmates and others.
