The HR Generalist performs a variety of duties including benefits and leave administration, high-volume phone screens, and interviews applicants who can represent our members in negotiations, grievances, arbitrations and organizing. You will also screen candidates for positions in accounting, communications, finance, IT, legislative advocacy, and legal.
Examples of duties:
• Phone screen, interview, assess applicants
• Write postings and competency-based interview guides for diverse disciplines
• Communicate with hiring managers and candidates
• Recognize first-tier candidates who are likely to succeed
• Train managers in recruiting, interviewing and assessments
• Work closely with managers and HR staff
• Assist in audits and compliance reporting
• Benefits and leave administration
Requirements & experience:
• 3 years’ experience conducting interviews and performance-based assessments
• Experience with internet sourcing and job boards
• Ability to interview and screen a high volume/high quality pipeline of applicants
• Able to recognize and measure leadership qualities through interviews and assessments
• Able to quickly develop an understanding of CSEA functions and its culture
• Solid judgment and decision-making skills
• Highly organized in planning and managing time
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• You must be a strong “people person”
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Ability to travel overnight and work occasional weekends.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
