Position Summary

This position serves as the back-up to the Credential Analyst II in acting as a liaison between California Commission on Teacher Credentials (CCTC) and CSU, Sacramento's faculty, staff and students. The incumbent counsels and advises on credentialing requirements, assists with compliance and processing of all data necessary for recommending candidates to the CCTC for the issuance of various school personnel credentials.

FLSA : Non-Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range : $3,906 - $5,544 per month

Hiring Range : $3,906 - $4,500 per month, commensurate on candidate's experience, education, skills and training

Salary Grade/Range : 1

Recruitment Type : Regular (Probationary)

Time Base : Full-Time

Work Hours : Monday -Friday. 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Department Information

The Teaching Credentials Branch prepares future elementary, secondary, and special education teachers to be agents of change, committed to social justice, equity and inclusion in culturally and linguistically diverse schools and communities. Our vision is to be the regional leaders in preparing and developing excellent teachers. In collaboration with our schools and communities, teachers prepared at Sacramento State create and sustain equitable inclusive educational environments which are designed to optimize access and student success.

Minimum Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of State standards and requirements for teaching and service credentials; general knowledge of educational practices in California school systems related to employment of teachers with credentials or permits; general knowledge of school internship programs; and a broad understanding of the credentialing process.

Ability to interpret for others and correctly apply the California Education Code and other such regulations pertaining to the issuance of the various credentials, certificates and permits for public school teaching and service in California; to organize and plan work to meet deadlines; to schedule participants for interviews, workshops or teaching related activities; to evaluate academic qualifications and determine credit to be granted toward credentials, certificates and permits; to prepare correspondence, records, and reports; and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Experience:

Equivalent to one year of experience evaluating academic qualifications of applicants for public school credentials, certificates or permits

or

Equivalent to two years of experience processing academic records to determine eligibility for admissions or degrees. One year of college level education (full-time equivalent) may be equated for up to one year of the academic record processing experience

or

Equivalent to two years experience performing technical, clerical or secretarial duties involving formulation, revision or interpretation of academic requirements or courses. One year of college level education (full-time equivalent) may be equated for up to one year of the technical, clerical or secretarial experience.

Required Qualifications

* Effective interpersonal and verbal skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse population, and present and convey information clearly and accurately
* Good written communication skills, with the ability to compose correspondence
* Good planning and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records, gather information for reports, and complete assignments in a timely manner
* Ability to use judgment and solve problems utilizing appropriate policies, regulations, and requirements
* Expertise in the use of standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook; Adobe Acrobat; Internet)
* Ability to access data available on campus (e.g. CMS, Cognos, etc.) and effectively write and present reports of these data, when requested.
* Ability to interpret and evaluate transcripts

Preferred Qualifications

* Understanding of CTC regulations for credential programs in College of Education, College of Health and Human Services and all other program areas offering credentials at Sacramento State.
* Knowledge of State standards and requirements for the full range of teaching credentials, educational practices related to employment of teachers with credentials, certificates, or permits in California school systems.
* Knowledge of credentialing process, school internships, and general knowledge of teacher preparation programs.
