Job Summary

Reporting to and under immediate supervision of the Anthropological Studies Center (ASC) Business Director, with additional lead work direction from the ASC management team, the Archaeological Technician I gathers, compiles and analyzes research data; and does related work as required specific to archaeological studies.

Key Qualifications

This position requires the equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. Additional experience which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities delineated above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. One year of experience in technical research. However, one year of graduate study in the social sciences such as Archaeology, Anthropology, CRM may be substituted for the required experience. Advanced degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, CRM, or related field preferred. Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, GIS, and GPS software and systems preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $3,338 to $4,000 a month. This is a full time, temporary, non-exempt position. Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
