Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Deputy Chief of Police, the incumbent will be responsible for the day to day management of Cal Poly Police Department's accreditation process through the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). Major duties include advanced analysis of unique and highly complex issues involving self-assessment, development, implementation, and maintenance of the department's accreditation and subsequent re-accreditation by IACLEA. The Accreditation Manager thoroughly analyzes departmental and system-wide policies and processes to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, oftentimes making recommendations for changes or improvements. This position independently tracks accreditation activities and progress towards goals, while coordinating the resolution of issues that may jeopardize accreditation status and developing procedures to improve departmental efficiency, performance, and compliance.

Additionally, the Accreditation Manager serves as the subject matter expert on the Accreditation process, including serving as liaison with local, state, and national IACLEA representatives and other accredited agencies.

Key Qualifications

  • Manages and coordinates departmental activities related to the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) Accreditation process.
  • Develops, writes, revises, and helps administer the department's catalog of policies and forms to meet accreditation standards, including written directives. Reviews existing policies, procedures, and processes to identify gaps in compliance with IACLEA Standards.
  • Determines and develops appropriate proofs of compliance for accreditation standards, including type, frequency, and retention of necessary documentation.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. Four years of technical or administrative experience. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.


Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $77,000 - $94,000 annually


Classification Range: $60,264 - $108,996 annually
