General Description
This position provides skilled accounting and processing services under minimal supervision. Incumbent must maintain knowledge of current accounting procedures and policies and exercise independent analysis and judgment. This position is generally responsible for the coordination and execution of numerous accounting transactions that involve extensive communication with outside parties.
Duties and Responsibilities
Incumbent may perform any combination of the tasks listed below:
- Interprets processing and account reconciliation policies and procedures.
- Prepares and processes transactions and data relating to the Association’s accounting system in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Prepares analyses and reconciliations for accounts assigned.
- Prepares necessary accounting entries and documents to properly state and reconcile subsidiary and general ledger accounts.
- Responsible for the overall accuracy and accounting for a given set of assigned projects and reports.
- Reviews, resolves and responds to accounting problems and inquires related to the processing of transactions and records including financial statements taken as a whole.
- Prepares, on a timely basis, financial reports involving the overall financial condition of an entity as assigned.
- Prepares and coordinates the disbursement of certain accounting documents as necessary to outside parties including, but not limited to, verification statements and records, billings and other financial reports.
- Assists in the training of other staff as directed by Supervisor and is generally responsible for the work distribution and prioritization within a given accounting assignment.
- Conducts training sessions with applicable parties with regards to accounting and processing policies and procedures for the Association.
- Maintains liaison with applicable parties with regard to processing and accounting related procedures.
- Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Minimum Required
- Bachelor's degree or Associate degree & 2 years relevant experience or High School diploma/GED & 5 years relevant experience.
- Understanding of accounting procedures and principles.
- Aptitude for figures and details; ability to prepare and analyze reports.
- Must have knowledge of financial report preparation and analyses.
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate generally used office equipment.
- Must have the ability to exercise initiative, tact and good judgment.
- Must have the ability to organize and coordinate work plans involving associates.
- Must have the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes in priorities.
- Must have the ability to analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Ability to understand and use basic computer spreadsheet software.
- Proficiency in the use of computer technology and the ability to learn and use the Association’s supported software programs.
- Knowledge of data processing applications.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
*This position is in a bargaining unit represented by CAS. Salaries are established by a collective bargaining agreement. Step placement is also determined by the CTA/CAS Agreement.
