This role is posted as"Head Baker" role but to be more specific, we’re hiring a Quality Assurance (QA) Manager in DC!

The QA manager is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the quality execution and Food safety standards of commissary production.

This role ensures that all commissary goods meet the highest quality and food safety standards and are produced efficiently.

This role will occasionally manage a commissary shift, and will also work full-time ensuring adherence to recipes, consistency in product quality, and maintaining a clean and safe food environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a bakery environment, QA and / or Food safety management experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for creating delicious, high-quality products.

This role is based at our DC Commissary and works alongside our commissary managers, pastry supervisors, and Food & Beverage Manager to manage all aspects of the baking process for the the most exceptional food experience possible.

Your core responsibilities will be :

• Oversee and participate in all aspects of bagel and pastry production, including preparation, baking, and finishing, to ensure consistent quality and adherence to CYM standards.
• Manage the daily operations of the bakery team, including training, and supervising bakers to maximize productivity and maintain high standards;

collaborate with Commissary Managers on scheduling training and oversight.

• Develop and refine recipes to maintain product quality and consistency, while also exploring opportunities for new products and seasonal offerings.
• Ensure proper mixing, proofing, baking, and finishing techniques are used to achieve optimal product results.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the purchasing team to ensure all necessary ingredients and supplies are stocked and available.
• Implement and maintain food safety and sanitation procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with the Commissary and Shops Operations teams to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of production orders for all CYM locations.
• Conduct regular quality checks on baked goods to ensure they meet CYM's standards for taste, texture, and appearance.
• Manage equipment maintenance and troubleshoot any issues to minimize downtime and maintain efficient production.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, providing guidance, support, and feedback to team members to promote their professional growth.

You’ll be a great addition to the CYM team if you have : :

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial baking environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Proven expertise in bagel and pastry production, with a strong understanding of baking techniques and processes.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple production lines and meet deadlines.
• Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing and developing a team of bakers.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed to ensure production schedules are met.
• Passion for baking and a dedication to producing high-quality products.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
