Callanwolde is a community arts center and renowned venue located on a historic 12-acre estate in the heart of metro Atlanta. Our mission is to provide the Atlanta community with premier, accessible arts education, especially to the underserved, while promoting enjoyment of the arts at the historic and inspiring Callanwolde estate.
Paper Moon is an after-school arts program for ages 8-12. The class will meet twice a week from September- November to explore a variety of themes, fine art materials, and engaging creative experience.
Each week will have a different art-making theme:
Week One: Printmaking
Week Two: Painting & Mixed Media
Week Three: Clay
Week Four: Fall Mural
Week Fine: Self Portraits
Week Six: Collage & Mixed Media
Week Seven: Still-Life Arts
Week Eight: a theme back by popular demand!
Classes for September 6- November 1, 2022 will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm -5:30pm. There will be no classes the week of September 26, 2022.
Instructor Duties:
· Develop creative learning experiences for after school art campers weekly.
· Be proficient teaching a variety of media including Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Collage, Printmaking, and more. Lessons are focused on Big Ideas, artistic processes, and student choice.
· Collaborate with Programs team to ensure that lesson plans reflect quality standards of Callanwolde Fine Arts.
· Basic preparation of art materials, managing art material supply, and keeping studio space clean.
· Supervise students as they move through the building and provide classroom management.
· Maintain and utilize prudently all materials supplied by Callanwolde Fine Arts Center.
Position Conditions:
· The position is a contractor position, and does not constitute an employer-employee relationship. A W9 is required for compensation.
· This position is supervised by the Programs Director.
· The anticipated schedule for this position is Tuesday-Thursday from 4:00pm- 5:30pm. There is a possibility that this program may expand to 10-12 hours/ week, based on student participation.
· This position is subject to a criminal background check.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required. Formal training in fine arts, art education, or education preferred.
· Two years of relevant work experience required. Education experience preferred.
· Able to work well with staff, students, guests, clients, donors, volunteers, board members, and other stakeholders.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
