BASIC FUNCTION

The Certified Medical Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting physicians and nursing teams in the delivery of exceptional patient care.   Medical Assistants will work closely with patients to achieve the outcomes they expect from Calobrace services

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Lead Nurse - Clinic

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. *Take patient medical histories and record vital signs.
  2. *Prepare the patient for and assist the physician during examination.
  3. *Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
  4. *Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments.
  5. *Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
  6. *Draw blood samples.
  7. *Prepare and perform patient EKGs.
  8. *Remove sutures and change dressings.
  9.             *Arrange examining room instruments and equipment.
  10. *Order, maintain and organize supplies and equipment for examination rooms, including bags for pre-ops, linens, gowns and implants.
  11. *Clean waiting and examining rooms at the end of each day.
  12. *Begin patient notes and chart while in the room with the physician.
  13. *Wash hair for post-operative patients.
  14. Attends Company and industry-related meetings, as required.
  15. Establishes individual goals which are aligned with the Company's business strategies and objectives.
  16. Functions as a contributing member of the department's team and other teams, as assigned.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by executive leadership.

  6. The employee is regularly required to talk and listen.  
  7. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.   
  8. Manual dexterity to handle instruments quickly
  9.            The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  10. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  
  11. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

working environment and conditions

  1. The work environment is an internal environment.
  2. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  3. This job is designated as a Category I job using OSHA definitions.  This means there are tasks that involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material.  Use of appropriate protective measures is required for any employee engaged in Category I tasks.
  4. Ability to work as a team member
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

EDUCATION, Experience and TRAINING

  1. Must be a graduate from an accredited medical assistant program with 2 years experience.
  2. Current BLS certification.
  3. Preferred accomplishments include experience in plastics and outpatient surgery.
  4. Must be flexible in job duties and work schedule.
