What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financing Research Intern position at CALSTART?
CALSTART has an immediate 3-month paid internship opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Drive to Zero (D2Z) Program. This position will support the D2Z team and report directly to the program manager. Our intern will play an important role in aiding understand the innovative financing models for ZE commercial vehicles to accelerate viable pathways to lower cost and risks for investments into clean technology.
The Financing Research Intern will...
- Conduct research related to the financial and economic aspects of the transition to ZE-MHDVs
- Engage with global financing partners to identify needs and opportunities for governments to create an investor-friendly environment
- Research and compile data related to financing and aggregate the information into accessible briefings and reports
- Aid in developing strategies to support launch and expansion of innovative financing solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Completed at least three years of accredited college/university level coursework pursuing a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, urban studies, transportation planning, public policy, sustainability, business development, or other related fields
- Self-driven and motivated individual that is passionate about clean transportation and research.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate technical information in a clear and accessible manner.
- Experienced in research and report writing with the ability to search through directions, summarize findings, and assist managers with presentational materials.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and task management abilities.
- Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders and audiences.
- Ability to work independently in a remote work environment.
- Familiarity with emerging trends in zero-emission transportation infrastructure and/or vehicles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel
- Minimum commitment of 30 hrs/week
Desired Qualifications:
- Fluent in Chinese and/or Spanish
- Understanding of financial modeling
- Knowledge of Multi-lateral development banks
- Knowledge of dynamic between public and private sectors
