What are the responsibilities and job description for the (AM Shift; Part Time) Dog Play Yard Attendant position at Camp Bow Wow Rochester?
We are currently hiring for the morning shift 6:30am-1:00pm; must be able to work a minimum or 4-6 days weekly to be considered. Weekends and holidays are non-negotiable. This position is part time and will be capped at less than 32 hours weekly. Raises and growth opportunities are based on performance and are at a hold for a minimum of 90 days. You will be responsible for handling the basic needs of living creatures, and for this reason we have a very strict call in/off policy. We do not hire for seasonal positions.
The Camp Counselor role exists to create a safe, clean and welcoming open play environment for the dogs who utilize our Day Camp and Overnight Camp services. This position is admittedly loud, fast paced, and high energy as you will be expected to handle up to 25 dogs of varying sizes and energy levels.
Specific duties of this role include, but are not limited to: Engaging with dogs in a safe and proactive way, keeping track of names, behaviors and health notes for up to 25 dogs under your care. Maintaining clean play yards both indoors and out: cleaning up poop, pee, drool and vomit. Ensuring you are acting in the best interest of our Campers and Employees by always following our health and safety processes and procedures.
To accomplish the above, you should be ready to actively listen and retain the information provided to you during training, asking clarifying questions whenever unsure. We are handling living creatures, it is of the utmost importance that as a Camp team member, you will be readily open to communicate to your team both verbal and written, in a professional manner at all times.
Camp Counselors will report directly to the Team Lead and Shift Manager.

- Valid Driver’s License
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Able to constantly walk and/or stand entire shift. Able to bend, stoop, lift, crouch. Able to lift & carry supplies 45 lbs
- Able to work with and handle dogs with various energy levels, behaviors and sizes.
- Not allergic to dogs. Not allergic to peanut butter
- Able to hear, learn and understand auditory behaviors from dogs
- Able to visually observe, interpret, and react appropriately to dog body language
- Smart phone required; able to download apps and take pictures on your phone. Able to utilize Camp’s required technology such as e-learning software, apps and other applicable platforms.
- Within 30 days: nonslip shoes are required
- Within 90 days: Animal CPR/First Aid certification is required to be completed
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain indoor and outdoor yards of up to 25 dogs and handle all their basic needs
- Effectively communicate verbal & written: health, behavior and service notes
- Open play yards according to CBW standard guidelines
- Clean and organize play yards
- Complete Cabin cleaning
- Complete dishes, laundry and other cleaning tasks as necessary
- Complete report cards and take photos
- Other expected tasks as needed
