Camp Live Oak Camp Live Oak is a 32 yr old 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing a nurturing setting that will enhance a child’s self-worth, confidence, and a profound appreciation of nature.
Our Counselors participate and guide children through activities such as canoeing, swimming at the beach, fishing, archery, science, and arts and crafts.
We are looking for energetic, upbeat, and passionate Certified Teachers, Substitutes, Outdoor Educators, or former Camp people to participate and guide children through activities such as canoeing, fishing, archery, science, and arts and crafts. Applicants will be working outside, rain or shine, so a positive attitude and a love of the outdoors is a MUST.
We are looking for nature enthusiasts, hard-working team players that love teaching children about the world around them. Applicants MUST be flexible and willing to help in various areas and have a willingness to learn! Self-motivated individuals with excellent communication skills are a MUST! The counselor position is full time and a full spring or summer season contract is preferred.
Additional Head Counselor Requirements:
- Enthusiastic about the outdoors and promoting respect for the environment.
- Minimum age of 21, Certified Teacher, or have extensive experience working with children ages 5-13!
- Must be able to work full camp days (8:30 am — 4:00 pm)
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Willingness to undergo background check/fingerprinting.
- Camp experience is a plus!
Location: Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, Fort Lauderdale
Rate: $12.00 – $15.00 HIGHER pay available depending on experience.
Job Types: Full Time; Seasonal, Contract
Before hiring the applicant must undergo a FULL background check and fingerprinting. Applicants will be checked against the Department of Justice Sexual Offender site and have a signed Affidavit of Good Moral Character. Applicants must provide 3 current references; 2 of the 3 must be professional references.

*Highly recommend and preferred Covid-19 vaccination for your safety and the safety of others. If you are unable to be vaccinated, a negative covid test is preferred.
*All staff and campers MUST wear a mask at all times, except when playing sports or at the beach.
*Temperature screening twice a day
*Covid-19 testing before camp starts
*Professionally hired cleaning crew will sanitize and clean bathroom/coolers/equipment.
