What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Director at camp position at Camp Zeke?
Spend an incredible summer, working with kids at Camp Zeke! Camp Zeke celebrates healthy, active living through whole foods, sports, fitness, and culinary arts! Our sleepaway camp is located on 560 serene acres in Northeastern, PA, and we have campers ages 7-17. We are looking for an Art Education Director to join our team from June 17 – August 11, 2024, and live on-site at our camp in the Pocono Mountains! There is some flexibility in the start date for school teachers.
Key Responsibilities of Art Education Director:
- Create an arts and crafts and ceramics program that include the themes of camp values.
- Supervise the staff of the art department and ensure that each person knows what is expected of them as a member of the art team. Provide guidance and create daily schedules for the team.
- The Art Director will take a special interest in our ceramics area and should know how to safely use a kiln.
- Create lists of supplies for craft projects and keep ongoing inventories of stock and reorder forms.
- Keep track of projects that go well and those that are not as well received.
- Teach daily arts and crafts classes with assistance from qualified Counselors.
- Lead specialty programs including Olympics and evening activities (i.e. banner design).
- Assist The theatre department with the creation of background sets and costumes as needed.
- Assist in all other areas of camp as needed
Qualifications of Art Education Director:
- Qualified applicants for this position should have a strong Arts background
- Have the ability to design and implement an appropriate Arts & Crafts program.
- Must be able to teach artistic/craft skills to campers
- Prior experience in ceramics, Jewish art education and safe use of kiln would be ideal, but not required.
