What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dining Room Manager position at Camp Zeke?
Spend an incredible summer working at Camp Zeke! Camp Zeke celebrates healthy, active living through whole foods, sports, fitness and culinary arts! We are a sleepaway camp located on 560 serene acres in Northeastern, PA and have campers ages 7-17.
Responsibilities of Dining Room Manager:
Your role as a dining room manager is significant, as food is a very important focus of our camp program. As a dining room manager, you will be responsible for working alongside the dining room team and setting up, stocking buffets and clearing the dining room after each meal. At all times you are expected to remain polite, courteous, and attentive. A smile and caring attitude goes a long way toward keeping our campers happy.
Your main duties will include:
1. Organize the dining room staff's daily assignments. Create schedules and assignments of tasks.
2. Ensure that the meals are presented beautifully and artfully, the way they would be at a gourmet restaurant.
3. Assist with distributing snacks to our campers and staff under the direction of the snack chef.
4. Stock the main buffets, salad and soup bars– both prior to the meal and restock during the meal.
5. Organize the setup of the buffets as designated on the menu - both prior to the meal and restock during the meal.
6. Set up the dining room prior to meals as per the menu. This includes plates, utensils, condiments, juices, beverages, soups and breads, as well as insuring that the salad bars and buffets have serving utensils.
7. At the conclusion of the meal, you and the dining room team are responsible for bussing the dirty dishes, silverware, cups and utensils, and returning left over food, beverages, condiments and breads to the kitchen.
8. Direct a major dining room cleaning once each week - including all equipment used by the dining room staff, windows, doors, chairs and tables.
9. As assigned, assist the kitchen with preparation of food items.
10. Provide support in other areas as directed by your supervisor or the camp directorate.
Qualifications for Dining Room Manager:
- Two years or more experience managing a restaurant, hotel or camp dining room.
- Ability to train and manage a team to insure the highest standards of health and safety, as well as customer service.
- Good organization, scheduling skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with designing and setting buffets and managing them during meal service.
- Knowledge of kosher dietary laws and working with guests with allergies a plus.
- Associates degree or higher is a plus
Requirements for Dining Room Manager:
- Available to live on site at our camp in Northeastern PA from at least June 13 to August 8, longer contracts available.
