Position Summary:
The Head of School will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the faculty, staff, and students of the school in full alignment to the school’s mission and with a dogged drive toward excellence in practice, ensuring that the school is in compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations. The Head of School will be responsible for the overall operation and management of the school, including academic programming, budget and financial management, personnel management, and community relations. The Head of School will be expected to lead by example and be an active advocate for the school's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic excellence
- Implement the school’s adopted classical curriculum and programming with excellence, achieving school goals.
- Develop a strong professional development plan that is ongoing and targeted to teacher and school needs throughout the year.
- Monitor student progress and implement interventions as necessary to ensure that students are developing essential knowledge and skill, intellectual virtue, moral integrity, and civic responsibility.
Budget and Financial integrity:
- Working with the Finance Manager and CEO, develop and manage the school's budget in a way that supports the school's mission and values
- Report to the CEO and Governing Board on progress of school goals
- Identify funding opportunities and grants that align with the school's mission and values
Personnel Management:
- Hire, train, and supervise staff who are committed to the school's mission and values
- Develop and implement personnel policies and procedures that align with the school's mission and values
- Ensure that all staff members meet state certification and licensing requirements
Community Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders who share the school's mission and values
- Communicate regularly with the school community about the school's activities and achievements, and how they align with the school's mission and values
- Represent the school at local and regional education events, and articulate the school's mission and values
Compliance:
- Ensure that the school is in compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations
- Maintain accreditation standards
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education or a related field, emphasis in classical education highly preferred.
- A degree or certification in the classical liberal arts
- At least 5 years of experience in education, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of and experience with budget and financial management
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment in the classical realm
- Knowledge of classical education and devotion to its tenets, instructional methodology, aims, and values
Salary: Dependent on experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
