Maintenance / Houseperson
POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Worker Houseperson ensures the extended stay hotel's maintenance and cleanliness, focusing on guest comfort. They conduct routine tasks, minor repairs, and upkeep of amenities like guestrooms and laundry facilities. Upholding quality standards and guest satisfaction is key, requiring proactive maintenance, communication skills, and teamwork. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Job Objectives
- Perform routine maintenance throughout the property, including cleaning and maintaining extended stay guestrooms, laundry, trash, and public areas.
- Conduct minor adjustments on HVAC systems and perform repairs and replacements of room furniture, fixtures, and equipment, focusing on extended stay room amenities.
- Maintain the hotel’s exterior areas, such as the swimming pool, parking lot, and landscape, to enhance the overall curb appeal for extended stay guests.
- Protect Company assets by properly securing tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring extended stay amenities are well-maintained.
- Report requests for major repairs to the General Manager and assist in determining capital requests and monitoring existing contracts for extended stay projects.
- Complete Routine Preventative Maintenance in assigned guestrooms, paying attention to extended stay features and amenities.
Guest Satisfaction
- Announce presence and enter guest rooms in accordance with Company standards and procedures, providing timely maintenance and ensuring extended stay guest satisfaction.
- Smile, acknowledge, and greet guests while in guest rooms or any other area of the hotel, fostering a welcoming environment for extended stay guests.
- Respond promptly to guest requests for immediate repairs, prioritizing extended stay guest needs and preferences.
Teamwork
- Be available to work a flexible schedule to accommodate extended stay guests and assist with various assignments, including laundry and housekeeping duties specific to extended stay accommodations.
- Assist other employees in collecting/delivering dirty linen to laundry, operating the hotel shuttle/van (if applicable,) and maintaining extended stay facilities.
Safety and Security
- Perform work duties in accordance with Company safety and security policies and procedures, ensuring extended stay guest privacy and security.
- Report and store lost-and-found items in accordance with hotel procedures, maintaining a safe and secure environment for extended stay guests.
Additional Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize public areas as needed, including the lobby, fitness center, stairwells, and hallways, ensuring a clean and safe environment for extended stay guests.
- Ensure rubbish and debris are disposed of in the proper manner, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness throughout the property for extended stay guests.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Prefer at least one (1) year of related general repair experience, with a focus on extended stay amenities.
MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Basic working knowledge of plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical, and/or other general repair skills, tailored to extended stay room features and amenities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for interacting with extended stay guests and addressing their specific needs and preferences.
Sound judgment and discretion, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and work with little or no supervision, ensuring extended stay guest satisfaction.
Ability to obtain a valid, current, and non-probationary driver’s license if required to operate hotel shuttle/van (if applicable,) facilitating transportation for extended stay guests.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
General dexterity for firm and simple grasping of objects, including small repair tools and extended stay room amenities.
Ability to kneel, reach, crawl, and twist torso as needed to accomplish required tasks, with a focus on maintaining extended stay facilities.
Capability to push and/or pull carts carrying linens, trash, tools, etc., and regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance, ensuring extended stay amenities are well-maintained.
