What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boiler/Kiln Operator position at Canfor?
The Opportunity:
Boiler Operators inspect water, gas, and other fluid levels inside boilers and related equipment, and adjusting fluids as necessary to keep systems operating at peak levels. Boiler Operators also assist with repairs such as piping, valves, and other boiler machinery as needed.
Required Skills:
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
- 2-5 years of Boiler experience preferred
- Available to work all shifts
- Completion of grade 12, a GED or a minimum of 5 years related work experience, or equivalent training (eg. OSHA tickets, plumbing or pipefitting courses)
- Good interpersonal skills and communication
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude
- Knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process would be an asset
- Knowledge of heating systems, boilers and other related power equipment would be an asset
